Jo DeMars is a member of the Wisconsin Writers Association and graduate of a number of intensive writing workshops. Her novel in progress, The Gift of the Puzzlebox, is part of a planned series featuring young Michael, his uncle Bob, the ever-resourceful puzzle box, and the magical, often challenging, wondrous world of Kroy, which lies somewhere, somehow, somewhen, not far from Michael’s home on a Wisconsin farm.
In her professional career, Jo is an accomplished business mediator and arbitrator. As a frequent speaker at national and international conferences, she has participated in two professional exchanges to the Peoples’ Republic of China, leading the second delegation and then hosting a reciprocal exchange of Chinese professionals to the U.S.
In 1995, DeMars received the Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year Award from Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs, and she was recognized in 2005 as a Woman of Distinction by the Waukesha County Foundation. DeMars is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
The first manuscript, The Gift of the Puzzlebox, in which Michael makes his first trip to the land of Kroy, is nearly completed and is in beta reading.
